As we step into 2025, the world of luxury interior design is evolving, blending timeless elegance with cutting-edge innovation. This year, designers are embracing bold new trends that fuse style, materials, and an eclectic combination of old and new to create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also deeply functional. From opulent materials to futuristic color palettes, the trends shaping luxury interiors this year reflect a growing desire for personalization, comfort, and sophistication. In this post, we’ll explore nine of the most exciting design trends set to define luxury interiors in 2025.

Design Trend 1 – Metal finishes everywhere!!!

Warm and cool-toned metals used throughout interiors are very on trend in 2025. However, Urban Energy Lifestyle & Design has been way ahead of this trend and has been using metal for over 15 years in a variety of applications.

We have used: bronze, brass, and tin for fireplace facades and custom finished the patinas; custom designed and built copper table tops; brass panels on cabinets and the list goes on. Let’s incorporate warm and cool metal tones, even mixing both, into your kitchen cabinetry, fireplace façade, door fronts, and custom furniture.

We tend to steer our clients away from “trendy” ideas because new home designs and renovations are large investments. We bring our clients innovative and fresh ideas but ones that will also stand the test of time when we work on their projects.

Design Trend 2 – Add Antique objects into the design

Integrating antique and vintage pieces into your design adds character, creates unique spaces and enhances spaces to exude greater sophistication and luxury. Antiques are one-of-a-kind items steeped in history and charm, crafted with exceptional skill and offering superior quality. Repurposing expertly crafted Antiques such as architectural details, furniture, art, lighting, area rugs or decor details elevate finished interior projects to be more interesting, eclectic and uniquely yours.

Urban Energy Lifestyle & Design Inc. has been designing client interiors with this in mind for the past 18 years and although it is becoming a trend in 2025, we believe it simply good design that remains timeless. Contact us to help you DESIGN, SOURCE & EXECUTE your new spaces with this in mind.

Ways to use Antiques effectively:

1. Focal Points

🔹 Use a standout antique such as a repurposed door, unique table, a statement mirror, or light fixture, as the centerpiece of the room

🔹Highlight craftsmanship by placing in prominent areas

2. Blend with Modern Design

🔹Mix vintage and antique elements with contemporary furnishings and modern lighting for a balanced, fresh and eclectic look

🔹Frame a modern piece of art with an antique frame

3. Repurpose with Creativity

🔹We have:

🔹Transformed an antique door into statement pieces, a dining table

🔹Refinish a vintage dresser for a modern bathroom vanity

🔹Transformed an umbrella stand into a toilet paper holder

🔹Used Iron gates as an exterior privacy wall

4. Use Art and Architectural Details As Conversation Pieces

🔹 Incorporate antique paintings, prints, sculptures, area rugs, architectural details, lighting and décor

5. Curate the Addition of Antiques and Vintage Pieces

🔹Don’t over-add too many pieces and turn the space into your ‘grandmother’s dated living room’not lost

🔹Don’t over add too many pieces and turn the space into your ‘grandmother’s dated living room’

Design Trend 3: Mix Metals

Mixing metals within the décor using ‘warm brass and bronze’ with ‘cooler silver, pewter, nickel, or stainless steel’ can create a sophisticated and balanced aesthetic in your space. How to mix metals:

🏠 Use both brass and nickel combined as cabinet hardware to tie together stainless steel appliances with warmer metal light fixtures in brass or bronze

🏠 Use luxurious warm brass liquid metal finish for a kitchen island along with aged cool toned metal panels on cabinets

🏠 Use heavily patinaed pewter tones for cabinet panels and accent with warm brass and bronze tones in a mirror or frame

🏠 Use a wallpaper with warm bronze tones and cool blue tones to tie together polished stainless sink and faucet with an antique mirror frame and modern brass wall sconces

🏠 Use silver tones and gold tones, in different finishes, in a custom floating shelf to anchor the use of mixed metals in a room and then place curated silver and gold toned accents sprinkled throughout the room

🏠 Keep the use of aged brass throughout a home by using the gold tones in light fixtures, some cabinet hardware but add some heavily patinaed pieces of other metals such as copper in the range hood and blackened bronze for the island hardware

🏠 If you have cherished décor in both pewter/silver/nickel along with brass/bronze then choose cabinet hardware that is a combination of bronze and nickel to set the tone in your home interior and then purposely and easily display the combination of these treasured pieces.

Design Trend 4: Wellness Spaces

In our fast-paced world taking time out to recharge isn’t a luxury…it’s a necessity…

🌿 We do not think wellness spaces are a 2025 trend but instead a permanent element of luxury residential design

🌿 Spaces to rejuvenate include: steam showers; soaker tubs; quiet reflective ambiance achieved with stone, tile, faucets and timeless quality materials; layered ambient lighting to allow for function as well as relaxation; towel warmers; filtered water stations; meditation space; work-out space and the list goes on…

🌿 Wellness Spaces are becoming an essential element in ‘luxury residential design’ that will benefit you and your family’s lifestyle and well-being with the added bonus of attracting future home buyers to your property when you go to sell.

🌿 Designed to you and your family’s unique workout and rejuvenation needs

🌿 Urban Energy Lifestyle & Design Inc. works closely with the leaders in “wellness products”, such as @rockymountainpoolsandspas to bring our clients the best and most innovative products such as Infrared Saunas from @finnleosauna, Hot Tubs from @hotspring_spas, Swim Spas, @poolins_official, the list goes on…

Design Trend 5: Eclectic Interiors

Eclectic Interior Design style is the careful curation of mixing “old with new”, reflecting your personality, lifestyle, and your travel experiences, mixing textures, and adding statement pieces of visual interest that are sure to be conversation starters when you are entertaining guests.

We feel the “French” are masters of this design style because of their “je ne sais quoi” that are all things French. From their inherent great taste, flare for originality, and exceptional design flare they exude in their; architecture, old and new; art; furniture design; lighting design; design of fabrics and wall coverings; cuisine; music, and whole culture.

Urban Energy Lifestyle & Design loves “all things French” and has been passionate about providing “eclectic interior design” style to their clients for over 18 years and feel it is not a trend but simply “good timeless design”. We believe all of our client’s interiors should be “uniquely theirs and designed for their specific lifestyles”. Design Trend 6: Move From Grey to Warmer Tones

The Pantone colour of the year is Mocha Mousse and there is a move away from grey, which has been prevalent for 15+ years in interior design.

We find that darker brown textiles and paint colors tend to date more quickly. Therefore, we encourage our clients to select timeless design options, such as lighter brown neutral tones like taupe, mushroom, and cream, for a more enduring and versatile aesthetic. Neutral warm tones will become more trendy and less trendy, but they are always timeless design choices.

Design Trend 7: Colour Drenching

Colour drenching is a striking design technique that uses a single colour or variations of one hue throughout an entire space, encompassing walls, ceilings, moulding, trim, doors and furnishings to create a cohesive and impactful effect. While this 2025 trend often features bold colours, we recommend a more timeless approach by opting for neutral tones. Applying the same neutral shade to ceilings, walls, trim, doors, and furnishings can make smaller spaces feel larger, ceilings appear higher, and the overall design more cohesive, sophisticated, and polished.

Recommendations:

🎨 Use the same colour paint for the walls as the trim and doors but use a higher sheen for the trim and doors than the walls.

🎨 Use half the strength of the colour of the walls for the ceiling because the ceiling colour will appear darker than the walls due to the shadows

🎨 Layer textures of tiles and wood materials in similar tone to create interest and balance

🎨 Layer textiles in furnishings and window covers in the same tone as the walls

🎨 Use colour drenching for a variety of design styles such as soft minimalism, old world timeless or transitional

🎨 Use in a powder room for drama and impact

🎨 Use all one colour to make smaller spaces look larger such as an office, powder room or kitchen

🎨 Use accents to enhance the look such as: metals, neutrals, or contrasting textures to break up the uniformity without disrupting the effect

Design Trend 8: Genuine Stone Countertops & Backsplashes

In 2025, genuine stone is redefining kitchens and bathrooms, elevating them with timeless luxury. Materials like quartzite and marble are among the most sought-after choices, celebrated for their stunning veining, natural beauty, and unique aesthetics that synthetic materials cannot replicate. Bold veining and high-contrast slabs are particularly popular, adding drama and sophistication to designs.

For high-end projects, using full slabs and incorporating book matching—a technique where two stone slabs are arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern—has become a hallmark of luxury, enhancing both countertops and backsplashes with striking visual impact.

Manufactured stone has long been popular for its affordability and easy maintenance. However, concerns over health risks associated with its fabrication, particularly the inhalation of silica dust, have raised significant issues. This has led some countries, such as Australia, to implement complete bans on quartz to protect workers in the stone fabrication industry.

Design Trend 9: Statement Sinks

Statement sinks are taking center stage in kitchen and bathroom design, blending functionality with artistry. These eye-catching fixtures transform a practical element into a striking focal point. Here’s how this trend is making an impact:

1. Unique Materials

Sinks crafted from unexpected materials like natural stone, hammered copper, concrete, or colorful ceramics bring texture and depth to the space.

2. Bold Shapes and Designs

Sculptural forms, asymmetrical basins, and oversized trough sinks add a modern and artistic vibe. Vessel sinks with distinctive shapes are particularly popular in bathrooms.

3. Vibrant Colors and Finishes

Brightly colored sinks or those with unique glazes and metallic finishes, such as brushed gold or matte black, add a bold contrast to neutral countertops.

4. Integrated Design

In high-end kitchens, integrated sinks made from the same material as the countertop (e.g., marble or quartzite) create a seamless and luxurious look.

5. Functional Art

These sinks combine beauty with practicality, often featuring high-quality craftsmanship and thoughtful details, such as built-in drainboards or textured interiors.

6. Statement Faucets

Complementing the sink with an equally striking faucet to amplify the overall impact
